ECOdome BENEFITS
PROJECT: Goodfish Lake
The community of Goodfish Lake (Whitefish Lake First Nation #128), Alberta, is planning Canada's first ever recreational ECOdome – a building that would house an NHL-size ice rink along with a fitness centre, café, community kitchen, daycare centre, and even the satellite campus for Portage College.

"NatureNomics" is our way of expressing the economic efficiencies of combining our patented technology with
the many advantages of robust natural strength and an
eco-friendly philosophy.
ECOdome's construction process ensures a consistent naturally induced interior temperature of approximately
12 degrees C. or 55 degrees F. without artificial heating
or cooling! Save money all day every day with ECOdome.
ECOdomes use 50-75 % less heating and cooling energy than similar sized conventional buildings.

Hockey Domes
ECOdomes Canada has established a partnership with CIMCO Refrigeration to provide our "hockey domes" with true NHL quality ice in addition to superior cost control and durability.
CIMCO's new ECO CHILL® refrigeration system further reduces the structure’s already marginal energy requirements.
Our average sized "hockey dome" of 50,000 square feet will seat over 1,000 spectators while accommodating a full suite of services and systems such as showers and locker rooms, equipment storage, food services, utilities, front desk and administrative offices plus space for related recreational or community focused facilities.

The idea of the ECOdome is "a new [ environmental ] concept mitigating water, heating, and cooling costs," says band Chief James Jackson. Fundraising consultant Rick Adam notes the ECOdome is "cheaper to build, disaster proof, and costs about 50 per cent less to heat and cool." Technically, "a tornado could roll right over the top of it," says Adam.
Because the building is 99 per cent concrete, its less susceptible to fire or deterioration. The design will also allow its NHL-quality ice to be used year-round. A six-inch cover is available to cover the ice surface, allowing for other community events such as concerts, ceremonies, basketball games, etc.

ECOdome
Already under construction, Greys Recycling Industries Ltd. innovative new facility will “close the recylcing loop” by turning locally produced waste into new, locally sold products. Housed in Edmonton's first commercial ECOdome, the new plant will conserve energy and resources by utilizing the tremendous money-saving advantages of all-concrete ECOdome technology in addition to solar power, re-directed heat, captured rainfall and recycled wastewater.
